Food, Water & Energy is currently conducting research into the viability of Jatropha in the arid areas of South America. The Jatropha fruit contains 40% oil that is ideal for bio-diesel; the rest of the plant provides excellent bio-mass.

Joint ventures

Goldman Sachs recently cited the Jatropha bush as the best candidate for the long-term provision of bio-fuel, as it thrives in areas prone to drought that are unsuitable for food production or forestry. FWE is seeking to enter joint ventures with companies wishing to produce bio-fuels in ways that do not conflict with traditional farming.
